“Memphis Style” Pin-back buttons in 80’s


80年代幾何学模様 “Memphis Style（メンフィススタイル）”の缶バッヂ。

 

このMemphis Styleは、1980年代初頭にイタリアで始まったデザイン運動で、

・非対称で大胆な幾何学形状

・鮮やかな原色とコントラスト

・遊び心のあるパターン

・ポップで反伝統的なアプローチ

そんな特徴があるみたいです。最後の「反伝統的なアプローチ」っていうのが興味深いです。伝統的なデザインのルールを無視した、自由で実験的な表現だそうです。

If I find a design I like, I have to buy it—80s geometric “Memphis Style” pin badges.

The Memphis Style was a design movement that began in Italy in the early 1980s, known for:

  • Bold, asymmetrical geometric shapes
  • Bright primary colors and strong contrasts
  • Playful patterns
  • A pop, anti-traditional approach

That last part—anti-traditional approach—really resonates with me. It’s all about breaking away from conventional design rules, and embracing freedom and experimentation.
