THE 90S “DOOUBLE RL” AIRBORNE PANTS

NYで暮らしていた90年代に良く穿いていた、“ダブルアールエル”のエアボーンパンツ。

MERRELL（メレル）のトレッキングブーツと合わせて、一時期、毎日のように穿いていました。

太めのシルエットも好きだったけど、使っている生地が凄く良かった。
弱テンションのドビーツイルで、おそらくオリジナルのWW2・米軍パンツの生地を参考にカジュアルとして穿きやすく織ったものではないかと思われます。

微起毛（凄く細かい毛羽立たせた）処理がしてあり質感も最高でした。

 

CORONA & FSの2026年春夏アイテムで使用している弊社オリジナルの“エアボーンツイル”は、90年代にオリジナルテキスタイルとして制作した定番生地で、このWRLエアボーンパンツの生地にインスパイアされています。

Back in the ’90s when I was living in New York, I used to wear a pair of “Airborne Pants” from Double RL all the time. I’d often pair them with MERRELL hiking boots, and for a while they were pretty much my everyday pants.

I liked the relaxed, roomy silhouette, but what really stood out was the fabric—it was incredible.
It was a low-tension dobby twill, and I suspect it was originally woven as a more casual, easy-to-wear interpretation of the fabric used in WWII U.S. military trousers.
The surface had a subtle brushed finish—an extremely fine nap—that gave it an amazing hand and texture.

Our original “Airborne Twill,” used in the CORONA & FS Spring/Summer 2026 collection, is one of our signature fabrics originally developed in the ’90s, and it was inspired by the fabric used in those WRL Airborne Pants.
